History
We originally bought this VW in early 90s and we were the third owner. It had all log books and even records of holiday trips and had been used as a camper only and done only just over 100,000k.We had many enjoyable holidays but decided to go 4WD instead and sold it in 1996. It was then the best VW camper in WA and had still only done 139,000k.
We had 4WD for a while but due to health traded it on larger camper bus.
Re-occurrence of heart problem made this too large for our use so we sold it and decided to buy small camper such as Toyota, Mazda etc but after much searching we decided a VW was the way to go. We tried to trace our original but to no avail. We restored another VW Camper, and won 2002 VW Kombi of the year at Shannons Day of the Volkswagen 2002, which was sold within 30 minutes of Show finishing.
A week before this we had seen our original advertised at a dealers and we bought it.
Unfortunately the person to whom we had sold it eventually sold it to a overseas tourist who toured around WA and eventually crunched the gearbox at Port Hedland.
The fridge and cabinet were missing but otherwise it went very well.
It has now done 233,000k, and has just returned from a 2000k holiday in midwest of Western Australia, which is not a high mileage for a VW and has a completely rebuilt engine, the correct gearbox/transmission and the interior has been removed, refurbished where necessary and new fridge cabinet has been made and we have managed to get the original style 3 way fridge.
New pine bench tops and table have been fitted
Full details of work carried out on separate report.
It has done less than 2000ks since engine rebuild.
Due to re-occurence of illness Darcy has been sold and now lives in UK.
We hope to update his adventures both there and in Europe
